I worked for Microsoft for seven years and have been a consultant in the field for over 30. I specialize in security, active directory identity, access management, and Azure.

It seemed like a fun challenge. But really, I wanted to find a place that challenged my skillset while also giving me a chance to help clients quicker.

What does it mean to be a DSE and how does your role impact clients?

Rodney Fournier

The DSE role can impact clients if they embrace the role and inner workings thereof. So, we can become an integral part of a client’s ecosystem and help them design, implement, maintain, and forecast their systems and configurations. It’s a two-way street though. We have to communicate consistently, have weekly meetings or a regular meeting cadence, then fit into their environment, possibly on their distribution lists or Teams meetings. We figure out where we fit into their scenario and how we can improve their situation.

Are there any initiatives or projects that you feel strongly reflect the impact of your role?

We recently started some consulting services with a client that needed an Active Directory migration and met a pretty stringent deadline of getting all their users migrated by the end of the month.
